Further Studies Advise in Singapore and Thailand

Before start doing anything, we’d better think what we want to do regarding to our career. If we feel that we are more interested in working abroad, we should have not only the experience that is related to our fields, but the recognized degree in the country that we wish also, so that we are able to get ample income.

For getting experience as a fresh graduate, we should work anywhere that can get related experience without caring the salary for our brighter future. We can dare sacrifice in anywhere if we have hope for our future.

For going to further studies, personally we can explain in details only about how to try and go to Nangyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore and Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand for studying as some of our friends have studied completely.

At first, you have to determine where you want to work, what kind of job you want to work, what kind of experience you have, what kind of things you need to fill for your career.

If you want to work in Singapore, we personally advise you to try to study in Singapore because it is sure to get Permanent Residence (PR) after you have completed degree from one of the government universities, Singapore. PR is nothing, but the one who holds PR can get better job (attractive salary package) than other job seekers.

Study in Singapore……………

Singapore is one of the good places to study and work for Myanmar people and most of Myanmar people can afford to go and explore it rather than other western countries.

There are some tips of studying in Singapore for those who have willing to go for further study in IT fields.

We recommend choosing government universities which are recognized by every company and industry in Singapore and the tuition fees are also cheaper than private universities. Moreover, you can apply tuition fee loans from 70% to 90% of tuition fees from the bank and you can pay it by installment after you graduated. They start charging the interest of the loan payment only after your graduation. On the other hand, you can apply for some scholarships in respective intakes. You can work part time job in weekends and holidays as well if not enough money. But we personally advise that if you have enough money to give tuition fees and other expenses, you don’t need to work and just give more time for studying to get good grades.

Preparation

If you have a degree in computer science and you want to go for master degree in related field, you must prepare your degree certificate, transcript, grading certificate and yearly scores. Two reference letters from your professors, one recommendation letter from English department’s professor or if you have TOFEL score or IELTS score, you need not to get recommendation letter for your English proficiency.
We recommend preparing in English skills for yourself as much as possible and it will bring great advantages for you to study in overseas.

If you still want to know how we study in Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand, please let us share you something that we faced in time of studying.

Study in Thailand……………

In our memory, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) is one of the places that we will never forget in life. Student lives there is fully awareness of multi-culture. One benefit is that our English speaking could be improved apparently as it is essential for communication in our working environment later. At least we dare talk with any kind of nationality without shyness. As you know, we, Burmese people, could understand on other’s speak, but hesitate to talk back what we want.

It is also good in educational standard as it is one of the recognized institutes in Asia. If you want to study more in research, you can get fully facility in terms of machinery, apparatus and wisdom from the professors who have lovely behaviour and good in mind. Most of the professors can give a smile and explanation in detail when teaching and used to have strict discipline when exam and giving the grade.

There are some pros and cons while we are studying.
Pros
You can get the real student life in Asian Institute of Technology (AIT). What we mean for "the notion of student life" is in part of creation of modern society with privacy is highly valued especially.
We can feel that the school can design to help people improve their personal lives. For example, Sports appears every day, Arts and Entertainment section features music, movie, theatre, library, orientation, concert, games, vacation trip and cultural show. Scene, the lifestyles of Student within the school campus runs in every issue and focuses on campus trends and the activities of students and faculty. Scene's regular features include a romance column, restaurant reviews and health-care clinic.
After enjoying and studying very hard in AIT student life, we will get our originally aim of getting the crown of degree that is recognized.
Cons
You have to use your own money if you are not provided with full scholar. Normally, most of the donors give scholar and make charity to the students whose field of studies seems able to distribute in least developed countries. Some donors don't feel that the students from our computer science fields will go to this way somehow. So, it is less opportunity in getting the scholarship than others who take the courses related to the development fields of studies. But it depends on how you qualify in approaching to get the scholarship as well.
One more thing is that we cannot hope that we are able to work to make some amount of money during the time of studying. It depends on the luck, opportunity, and ability of individuals. So, we have to make it sure that we have the needful amount of money to cover the tuition fees and living expenses for fully period of studies.
There are three courses that are related to our IT fields in the AIT: Computer Science, Information Management and Software Engineering.
Computer Science program is for the people who want to know more in details of the study and the science of the theoretical foundations of information and computation and their implementation and application in computer systems. Computer science has many sub-fields; some emphasize the computation of specific results (such as computer graphics), while others relate to properties of computational problems (such as computational complexity theory). Still others focus on the challenges in implementing computations. For example, programming language theory studies approaches to describing computations, while computer programming applies specific programming languages to solve specific computational problems. A further sub field, human-computer interaction, focuses on the challenges in making computers and computations useful, usable and universally accessible to people.
It is the best for people who are willing to go for Ph.D or Research in the related area.
Computer Science
Computer Science field of study (CS FoS) aims to meet the growing international demand for highly-skilled computer specialists by:
• Providing a curriculum that enables students to acquire the breadth required to function in the modern-day computer industry;
• Providing a state-of-the-art research environment;
• Encouraging students to specialize beyond the basic curriculum in areas of high demand by doing theses and research studies;
• Fostering close relationships with both local industry and international organizations.
Information management (IM) is the collection and management of information from one or more sources and the distribution of that information to one or more audiences. This sometimes involves those who have a stake in, or a right to that information. Management means the organization of and control over the structure, processing and delivery of information.
In short, information management entails organizing, retrieving, acquiring and maintaining information.
So, it is better for people who are willing to work as Project Managers or executives in the public and private sectors.
Information Management
Information Management field of study (IM FoS) is designed to prepare students to respond to four basic challenges confronting organizations today:
• Planning the effective use of information and communication technologies with organizations;
• Developing corporate and government policies to maximize the benefits resulting from the widespread use of these technologies;
• Improving the strategic management of information resources in business, government, and non-profit organizations;
• Increasing the productivity and creativity of managers and executives who work with information resources.

Software Engineering is the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the development, operation, and maintenance of software. It encompasses techniques and procedures, often regulated by a software development process, with the purpose of improving the reliability and maintainability of software systems. The effort is necessitated by the potential complexity of those systems, which may contain millions of lines of code.
Therefore, it is very powerful courses for the people who want to work as programmers or computer specialists.
Software Engineering
In addition to the traditional Master's program in computer science, Computer Science and Information Management (CSIM) also offer a Master's degree in computer science with specialization in software engineering. The software engineering program is specially designed to fill the Asia-Pacific region's needs for highly trained specialists in software development and the management of software development projects. Students in the program will:
• Receive in-depth training in the latest software development tools techniques, and trends;
• Learn the industry's best practices for management of large software projects;
• Get experience on real problems in collaboration with public and private sector partners during internships.
The software engineering program is particularly aimed at students already having work experience in the software industry.
